Disney is helping Maker expand its brand into television, with the studios already collaborating on a series of specials for Disney TV channels. Maker's network consists of more than 55,000 video channels, and draws in more viewers than any other Youtube partner. Maker has also worked to extend Disney's reach on Youtube by collaborating with channels such as ABC Family and ABC News. Maker also plans to produce online content for upcoming Marvel and Pixar movies. The move helps explain why Disney purchased Maker back in May for $500 million. According to sources close to the project though, Maker has secured sponsors to help fund the series. While trusted source Bloomger first reported on this new online series, nothing official has been announced by Disney and Lucasfilm. The series will revolve around everything from Star Wars fashion to Star Wars games, though it's not clear if these short-form episodes are taking place within the universe, or about actual toys and clothing that you can buy in the real world. Maker Studios, which is the largest operator of channels on Youtube and owned by Disney, will produce short-form shows featuring online personalities popular among viewers who weren't around for the first two trilogies. And the last time a Star Wars movie was on the big screen was back in 2008, when the animated adventure Star Wars: The Clone Wars was released. It will have been more than ten years since the live-action Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith hit theaters in 2005 when Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally opens. So they have teamed with Maker Studios to produce an online Star Wars series that will get the 'Youtube' generation excited for the relaunch of this sci-fi adventure series on the big screen.
